Americans Beg Queen Elizabeth To ‘Take America Back’

Thousands of people shared a letter which asked the Queen of England to overrule the Declaration of Independence and take America back as a British colony

With the race to the White House narrowed down to two candidates, Americans are scratching their heads and saying “There are 319 million people in the country – is this really our best and brightest?

Dismayed by the choice of Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton to be the next president of the United States, some people are becoming ever more desperate to save their country.

Recently thousands of people shared a letter which asked the Queen Elizabeth to overrule the Declaration of Independence and take America back as a British colony:

“On behalf of the American people, I urgently implore you to take us back.”

Fashion designer Stella McCartney even offered to design a new Red Coat uniform should the invasion go ahead.

We’re going with the classic Red Coat look but with a 21st Century edge to it,” Stella said.

Chris Martin said his band Coldplay would perform for the British troops before the invasion.

We’ll do anything we can to ensure 319 million people find a better life.”

But the story was nipped in the bud after Buckingham Palace appeared to graciously decline the invitation to take America back (although that response later turned out to be a fake).

There have also been several satirical news articles along similar lines. Like this one from the Huffington Post:

And more recently, this one from satirical website the DC Brief:

It’s been shared thousands and thousands of times on Facebook and Tumblr. And while many of those seem to be in jest, plenty of Americans have been sharing the stories with real enthusiasm.

One person commented:

“I really hope she goes through with this. Please, please let her go through with it. I’ll pay taxes on tea again if I have to, just make him go away!!!”

Another noted:

“please, please, please take us back, because we will truly have lost all hope by the election.”

People are so serious, they’re using Hamilton lyrics:

“You’ll be back/soon you’ll see/you’ll remember you belong to me/You’ll be back/time will tell/you’ll remember that I served you.”

It’s all getting a bit much for some of us:

And who can blame us?
