Bodies Of 11 Dead Babies Found In Detroit Funeral Home

Bodies of 11 dead babies found in U.S. funeral home

The bodies of 11 dead babies discovered in the ceiling of a funeral home has prompted a massive investigation in Detroit.

Eight tiny bodies were found by construction workers hidden inside a panel in the former funeral home, with some also found stuffed into cardboard boxes. Three more bodies were discovered in trash bags in a single small casket, according to police.

Dailystar.co.uk reports: Emergency services have sealed off the Cantrell Funeral Home in Detroit, in the US state of Michigan, after the find on Friday night.

Police are continuing to search the property for more abandoned corpses.

The identities of the dead infants aren’t yet known.

State officials shut the funeral home in April after inspectors found decomposing remains and disgusting conditions on the site.

Inspectors at the time found two mould-covered bodies in advanced stages of decay.

Two improperly stored embalmed bodies had been dumped in the garage with no refrigeration used.

The walls of the funeral home’s embalming room were unclean with peeling paint, stained walls and dirty floors, according to inspectors.

Robert Beavers, who runs a liquor store down the street, told reporters the home had been closed for some time.

“People have been going in and out of there cleaning up inside lately,” he said.

Jameca LaJoyce Boone, the home’s designated manager for a year before its closure, said the discovery was shocking.

She said: “I didn’t know anything about that. I really don’t know how that could even have happened.

“I don’t know how long that’s been going on there.

“It’s very unfortunate and they definitely need to find out who put them there.”
