Tim Canova has slammed Debbie Wasserman Schultz as a “corporate stooge” and refused to concede the Florida primary election to her amid claims of voting irregularities and possible election fraud.
When asked by reporters if he had made the traditional concession phone call to Wasserman Shultz, Canova indicated that he would not congratulate her because he does not believe she has won a fair fight.
“I’ll concede that Debbie Wasserman Schultz is a corporate stooge,” the Bernie Sanders backed candidate told reporters, according to the Sun Sentinel.
“We’re fighting for American democracy,” said Canova, who got to 43 percent of the vote. “This is a rigged system and everyone knows it.”
Canova spokesman Maurizio Passariello confirmed earlier that the candidate had not yet conceded, saying the campaign is investigating “apparent voting irregularities, including possible fraud.”
The incident is just the latest in a summer dubious election results. The fact Wasserman Schultz was even running for re-election astonished many observers, only weeks after she resigned in shame as DNC Chair.
Hacked emails released by WikiLeaks and Guccifer 2.0 proved Bernie Sanders was right all along: the DNC, and particularly Wasserman Schultz, were illegally conspiring against him during the primary campaign.
2016 will be looked back on as the year Americans began to question whether our elections – and even our democratic institutions – have been corrupted to the point of being enormous rigging mechanisms designed to ensure control by the oligarchy.
Despite the best efforts of the establishment and the mainstream media they own to dismiss the idea as a conspiracy, huge numbers of Americans are waking up to the idea that the system is rigged against them by the elite.
Of course the corporate media has come out in defense of America’s “democracy” — and political elites are defending the system that serves them so well, too.
In the wake of Trump’s recent rhetoric regarding the “rigged” system, the ruling class of the United States is peddling the fiction that somehow Trump’s irresponsible sensationalism is solely to blame for the newfound feelings of illegitimacy plaguing our elections.
But it’s not just Trump. Bernie Sanders was pushing the same idea, with perhaps even more success, although from an entirely different political standpoint. The idea the system is rigged against ordinary Americans is not a partisan political issue. It is much deeper and more powerful than Republican and Democrat squabbling.
