Elmo: “Come On Everybody, Get Vaccinated!” – Disturbing Message To Kids

In a disturbing and controversial propaganda video, Sesame Street character Elmo has teamed up with the U.S. Surgeon General, in a video that encourages kids to get vaccinated.

In the video, released by the U.S. Health and Human Services, Elmo urges to Sesame Street viewers, “come on everybody, get vaccinated!” shortly after hearing about the importance of vaccines from U.S. Surgeon General Vivek H. Murthy.

The video is the U.S. Health and Human Services response to the growing concern that vaccines may be dangerous to health.

Natmonitor.com reports:

The video, which was released by the U.S. Health and Human Services, features Elmo alongside Murthy, who said in a statement that “it is my job to help everyone stay healthy,” and that “Elmo and I talked about the importance of vaccines and making sure that all children are protected from easily preventable diseases,” according to an ABC News report.

Elmo said he’s ready to get a shot, even though it’s not fun, and pleaded with viewers that “everybody get vaccinated with Elmo!”

It is a serious issue for the government, as a recent outbreak of measles has infected 147 people int he United States, 131 of them in California. A bill is working its way through the state legislature that would ban parents from seeking exemptions from making sure a child attending school is vaccinated.

The anti-vaccination movement has led to a comeback in measles, which had previously been eradicated by vaccinations. Pockets of unvaccinated people have led to outbreaks of the extremely rare disease.

According to government statistics, about 21 million hospitalizations and 732,000 deaths of children have been prevented by vaccinations between 1994 and 2013.
