Bill Gates had a meeting with President Trump at the White House last week, according to a Gates spokesperson.
In a statement obtained by Fox News Digital, the spokesperson said: “Bill met with the president to discuss the importance of U.S. global health programs and health research that is necessary to save lives, protect Americans’ health, and preserve U.S. leadership in the world.”
The meeting, last Tuesday, was reportedly cordial and lasted over three hours.
However, Gates later publicly condemned Trump’s decision to shut down the U.S. Agency for International Development
In a post on X Gates warned that the consequences of halting USAID operations were “entirely preventable” and urged the administration to reconsider. He wrote: “It’s not too late to reverse them”
The Tuesday meeting also follows an announcement by Robert F. Kennedy Jr about a new “universal vaccine” his NIH is working on.
The vaccine just happens to be funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Last month Health and Human Services Secretary RFK Jr. announced plans to halt $500 millions in funding to develop vaccines using mRNA technology, He said he preferred the development of a universal vaccine that mimics “natural immunity.”
The NIH announced back in May that it was investing in a “universal vaccine platform” to develop vaccines that could protect against multiple strains of influenza and coronavirus by using whole, killed viruses. At that time many scientists were skeptical of the project’s potential at the time, arguing they would take much longer to produce than the mRNA vaccines in the event of a pandemic.
