In an interview with Candace Owens, Hunter Biden openly admitted that his crack cocaine addiction was a deliberate, cowardly plan to slowly destroy himself while dragging the entire Biden family — including his father, Joe — down with him.
During the conversation, Hunter described the mindset behind his addiction following personal tragedies, particularly the death of his brother Beau. He explained turning to crack as a slow, painful form of self-destruction that extended outward.
“I said, let me do it this way and really, really, really drag everybody down with me along the way. Let me figure out the way not only to kill myself, but to maybe kill my dad. You know, really hurt my family, um, uh, particularly my 3 daughters who like adore me and I adore…”
Biden characterized the choice as cowardly. Rather than a direct act, he said he opted for addiction as a way to inflict maximum collateral damage on those closest to him. He explicitly contrasted crack cocaine with powder cocaine, warning listeners against it while refusing to provide a “roadmap” for its use, stating it “will kill you.”
The interview marked an unusual crossover. Owens, who had previously mocked Hunter as a “crackhead” for years, used the platform to apologize for her role in dehumanizing him during his public struggles.
She expressed regret for contributing to the spectacle of his lowest moments, including photos and videos of him using drugs with prostitutes. Hunter accepted the apology and discussed his sobriety, claiming he has been clean since June 1, 2019.
The interview has drawn mixed reactions: some praised the candor and Hunter’s apparent clarity in recovery, while others viewed it as an attempt at image rehabilitation or deflection from past controversies.
