The United States Navy has spent over $860,000 since late 2017 buying at least 89 fresh American cadavers from the University of Southern California — dozens of them specifically to fund Israeli Defense Forces medical teams undertaking gruesome trauma procedures.
These are not abstract medical specimens. These are dead American bodies — pumped with artificial blood, cut open, shot, blasted, and dissected — all to get Israeli soldiers comfortable with blood, brain matter, and mangled flesh on the battlefield.
One contract remains active. The Navy has already funneled more than half a million dollars to USC, with another $225,000 ready to flow, pushing the total close to $1.1 million over seven years. All of it taxpayer-funded. All of it involving American dead.
These cadavers, often unclaimed bodies from Los Angeles County, come through the Office of Decedent Affairs. Many families never learn their loved one’s remains were turned into training props for a foreign military.
Medical insiders are revolted. One Keck School of Medicine physician called the program exactly what it is: “It wasn’t designed or developed to save lives. It was just to desensitize people to the trauma.” A fourth-year medical student labeled the contracts “disgusting” and said she would refuse to participate.
Sacrilege Dressed Up as “Training”
Even in death, these Americans deserve dignity. Instead, their bodies are perforated, perfused, and pulverized in the Fresh Tissue Dissection Lab at LA General Medical Center. Israeli surgical teams receive 96 hours of hands-on time per course, practicing on real cadavers to simulate combat wounds. Three bodies per IDF course. Multiple courses per year.
Thomas Champney, an anatomy professor and ethics researcher at the University of Miami, put it plainly: “Even though they’re deceased, they still deserve a level of respect and dignity… that we would normally give to the living.”
There is no specific informed consent for this use. Unclaimed bodies can’t consent at all. Blanket permissions and legal loopholes in California allow it, but that doesn’t make it right. It makes it convenient.
USC and LA General defend the program with corporate-speak about “lifesaving care” and “longstanding partnerships.” They claim foreign nationals don’t participate under the county contract — yet separate agreements clearly bring in IDF teams. The Navy itself calls it strengthening ties with “one of our key military allies.”
Translation: American dead bodies are being used to toughen up Israeli forces, and U.S. taxpayers and institutions are footing the bill.
This isn’t mutual alliance. This is one-way exploitation. U.S. service-age cadavers and unclaimed American bodies shredded for foreign military benefit, while families are kept in the dark and ethical standards are shrugged off as inconvenient.
The partnership dates back to at least 2013, with formal Navy contracts kicking in around 2017. It continues today. The latest deal runs potentially through September 2026.
America sends its young men and women to fight. Now, in death, some of them — or those who look like them — are still serving. Not for the United States, but as disposable props for the Israeli Defense Forces.
That isn’t partnership. It’s sacrilege. And it reveals a profound lack of respect for American lives — even after they’ve ended.
