CORRECTION: A previous version of this article inaccurately stated that senior citizens are “being killed in record numbers as a result of the flu vaccine.” The JAMA study on which the article was based did not report an increased number of deaths from the flu shot in the elderly. Other claims in the article were not backed up by any evidence. We have therefore updated our headline and article to reflect these facts.
The JAMA study on which the article was based did not report an increased number of deaths from the flu shot in the elderly. The study (available here) found that previous studies had overestimated the number of deaths prevented by flu shots.
Furthermore, the original article’s claims of research fraud and that the government pays out more compensation for flu vaccine than any other vaccine is not based on any verifiable evidence.
