In a stunning admission caught on camera, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass let slip that Democrats are exploring options to strip American citizens of their exclusive voting power by allowing non-citizens to vote in city elections.
When asked during a Politico California Playbook event about far-left Councilmember Hugo Soto-Martínez’s aggressive push to let non-citizens vote for mayor, City Council, and school board seats, Bass didn’t push back. Instead, she replied: “Well, I think we need to explore it.”
This comes as Soto-Martínez, a Democratic Socialists of America-backed councilman, introduced a proposal in late April 2026 to place a charter amendment on the November ballot. If approved by voters, it would empower the City Council to grant voting rights in local elections to non-citizens — including those in the country illegally.
Stealing the Citizen Vote in America’s Second-Largest City
For conservatives, this move represents everything wrong with radical Democrat governance: eroding the fundamental principle that voting is a right and privilege reserved for American citizens. Los Angeles, already plagued by homelessness, crime, and failing services under Bass, now wants to import a new voting bloc that has no loyalty to the United States Constitution or American sovereignty.
Cities like San Francisco and Oakland have already gone down this dangerous road, allowing non-citizen voting in certain local races. Bass referenced such examples while dodging a clear stance, saying she hadn’t seen the full proposal but that it was worth exploring.
This isn’t “inclusion.” It’s an attack on citizenship itself. When non-citizens — many of whom benefit from taxpayer-funded services in this sanctuary city — gain the power to elect leaders who control billions in spending, public safety, and education policy, the voice of actual Angelenos and American citizens is deliberately crushed.
Time to Fight Back
Mayor Karen Bass and her progressive allies are showing their hand: they prioritize political power and demographic replacement over preserving the republic. American citizens built Los Angeles — not illegal immigrants or foreign nationals. Our elections must remain citizen-only.
Patriotic Americans should:
- Demand full transparency on this proposal
- Support the SAVE America Act to protect federal elections
- Reject any politician who treats citizenship as optional
This isn’t compassion. It’s a radical transformation of American democracy by those who can no longer win fair fights with the native-born electorate. The battle for election integrity starts in liberal cities like Los Angeles — and it must be won.
