A Filipino migrant received tens of thousands of pounds’ worth of gender reassignment surgery on the NHS while waiting to find out if he could stay in Britain.
The Filipino, who entered Britain as a man several years ago, underwent the health service-backed sex change procedure to become a woman last year.
The Sun reports: After the trans surgery, the migrant’s pronouns were changed from “Mr” to “Miss” in official Home Office immigration papers.
The patient boasted of getting the op in a celebratory online message with a pic — using a new name, a feminine version of the old one.
Reform MP Robert Jenrick said: “It’s a slap in the face to millions of Brits on NHS wasting lists.”
The Filipino got free consultations and care at London’s Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, where 40 per cent of patients miss the 18-week treatment target.
But the migrant was sent in an NHS partnership to private Nuffield Health Parkside Hospital in Wimbledon for the op.
Dr Renee Hoenderkamp, a GP, said: “This shouldn’t be happening on the NHS.
“I have patients waiting for hip replacements, knee surgery — procedures they need to work and to get on with their lives.”
Adults diagnosed with gender dysphoria can get surgery on the NHS if they have lived as their preferred gender for at least a year.
