Mysterious Coded ‘Message’ From Interstellar Object 3I/ATLAS Stuns Chilean Scientists

Chilean scientists allegedly intercepted a cryptic, Morse-like signal beaming from 3I/ATLAS—the mysterious interstellar comet currently streaking through our solar system in a straight line towards Earth.

Confronted with indecipherable code, they reportedly turned to AI, which translated the eerie message as: “We’re on our way. We’ve been watching you. Don’t be afraid — we’re gonna be there soon.”

The coded message also indicated that the probe is already in contact with senior global leadership — communication that, for reasons unknown, has not been shared with the public.

While there’s been no official confirmation from the Chilean research institutions, the claim has captured the imagination of those who have been following 3I/ATLAS closely since its discovery.

The original post came from a Facebook user named Scott Whitehead, and a version with different visuals and his voiceover has circulated on YouTube. Social media and forums are buzzing.

The Object at the Center of the Rumor

3I/ATLAS is no ordinary comet. Discovered on July 1, 2025 by Chile’s ATLAS telescope network, it is only the third confirmed interstellar object to enter our solar system—following in the footsteps of ‘Oumuamua in 2017 and Comet Borisov in 2019.

Its hyperbolic trajectory confirms it came from beyond our solar neighborhood, hurtling toward us at a blistering 130,000 mph.

The object has already surprised astronomers with its activity. Observations from NASA and the European Southern Observatory have revealed sublimating water—even at a chilly distance of 3.5 AU from the Sun—a behavior not typically seen in comets so far from a star.

The Hubble Space Telescope has captured the most detailed images yet, estimating the object’s core to be between 320 meters and 5.6 kilometers across, making it the largest confirmed interstellar visitor to date.

Speculation about the nature of 3I/ATLAS has been fueled by scientists like Harvard astrophysicist Avi Loeb, who has openly suggested that the interstellar object could be an alien probe

Prof. Arvi Loeb says aliens have already visited Earth

While many in the academic community urge caution, Loeb’s ideas have gained widespread media attention and stirred lively debate.

Given Chile’s extensive network of high-altitude observatories—some of the most advanced on Earth—it’s not hard to imagine how a signal, if one were truly present, might be detected there before anywhere else.

And for those inclined to connect the dots, the alleged Morse-style message fits neatly into the larger, and stranger, story of 3I/ATLAS.
