A notorious Texas pedophile, who was charged with raping a 6-year-old girl and then acquitted on a technicality, has been killed by a vigilante group who tied his body to train tracks.
Anik Mustafi, 34, from Houston, Texas, was discovered in the early hours of Saturday morning, his body cut in half by a freight train.
The train driver alerted the authorities that he had run over the body, explaining that the body was located “just around a bend” and although he received an automated alert that something may be on the tracks, he “had no time to stop the train.”
Mustafi was arrested in May and charged with predatory sexual assault against a child and first degree sexual abuse after his neighbor claimed she caught him molesting her 6-year-old daughter. It was alleged Mustafi, a factory worker, groomed the girl for months before luring her into his car and assaulting her.
However after being charged, Mustafi walked free from the court after the judge controversially ruled that the prosecution did not have enough evidence to convict the 34-year-old. A forensic laboratory “accidentally destroyed” evidence the prosecution was relying on to prove their case.
The judge apologized to the family of the alleged victim and acknowledged there are “flaws in our legal system” that sometimes allow perpetrators to walk free on technicalities.
The alleged victim’s family said they were “devastated” that Mustafi had been allowed to walk free from court.
“Gangland-style execution”
But Anik Mustafi’s freedom did not last long. It seems local Houston pedophile vigilantes decided to take matters into their own hands, and “kidnapped” the 34-year-old factory worker early on Saturday morning, before tying him to a train track at a location which guaranteed the driver would not have time to stop.
Investigating officers described his death scene as resembling a “gangland-style execution“.
A local resident said of the horrific discovery that finding a body on the train tracks was an unusual occurrence: “I’ve been living here for 35 years. We have had a few suicides on the tracks in that time, but nothing like this.”
“This is the kind of thing that happens in mob films, but not around here.”
Houston police say they are currently “following leads” but have yet to make any arrests for the murder.
