Disgraced Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz has called for a military uprising and taken steps to prepare the state for civil unrest after a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer fatally shot a 37-year-old woman on January 7.
Federal authorities stated the officer fired in self-defense after Renee Nicole Good allegedly tried to use her vehicle to strike agents. Walz has challenged that account and appears to be using the incident to create another wave of George Floyd type protests and civil chaos across the US.
Walz ordered the Minnesota National Guard to prepare for possible deployment and activated the state’s emergency response apparatus.
“We do not need any further help from the federal government… Minnesota will not allow our community to be used as a prop in a national political fight,” Walz said at a press conference.
He also warned Minnesotans against allowing the situation to be used to justify broader federal action, urging protesters to pour into the streets, while framing the desire to protest as a “patriotic duty” to express dissent against the duly elected president.
Last week, the disgraced governor announced he would not seek another term, a decision aides said came amid mounting political pressure following nationwide controversy following the Somali daycare scandal.
