Fauci ‘Jokes’ About Developing Covid-19 ‘Ancestral Strain’ At His House

Dr. Anthony Fauci “joked” on Tuesday that it was he who developed the novel coronavirus in the kitchen at his house, prompting observers to note that many a truth is told in jest.

Fauci sat down with his friend and colleague Dr. Larry Corey in the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center campus in Seattle, Washington to discuss the Covid-19 pandemic, which has been hugely profitable for the NIH Director.

Speaking to Biden’s Covid czar, Corey noted that the event was being held in the state of Washington, “at the epicenter of the initial outbreak.” He was referring to the first case of Covid-19 in the US, which was registered by a man who had returned to the Seattle area after visiting Wuhan, the Chinese city from which the virus apparently originated.

Fauci, however, responded with a very strange “joke.” “No, I developed the ancestral model strain. I created it.”

“You let it loose,” Cory interjected as the audience broke into nervous laughter.

“I was in my kitchen, and…” Fauci said, making a gesture to suggest he dropped something.

Meanwhile, Twitter erupted with users disgusted by Fauci’s remarks. “Quite the topic to find humorous,” quipped one Twitter user, while another asked rhetorically “Why would he even joke about it?”

On a more serious note, Fauci said his team is expecting yet another surge in Covid-19 cases in the US this fall. He also voiced concerns about how much misinformation is being spread about Covid-19 and his beloved vaccines, even as the pandemic is about to enter its third year.

“It’s still amazing to me that people can still hold onto such untruths. They have so much going on in their lives, that they just accept it as fact,” he said. “And all of a sudden, lying becomes normal.”

During the event, Fauci was bizarrely given the honorary Hutch Award, which is usually granted to professional baseball players who have acted as healthcare advocates. Fauci became the only the second non-baseball player in history to receive such an award.
