FDA Launch Propaganda Campaign Promoting ‘Health Benefits’ Of GMOs

FDA launch pro GMO propaganda campaign

The FDA have launched a multi-million dollar campaign aimed at brainwashing the American public into believing that GMOs are safe for consumption.

The $3 million campaign will combat what the agency are calling “misinformation about GMOs in our food supply.”

The money will be used to pump out unproven propaganda to the American masses which will show them the “positive side” of GMO food, in an attempt to convince the public that it is safe to eat.

Scott.net reports: They’ll supposedly use the money to try to show the positive side of GMOs—which make up 80 percent of maize and soybean crops planted in the U.S.—including their “environmental, nutritional, food safety, economic, and humanitarian impacts.”

In April of last year, more than 50 food industry groups signed a letter expressing their support for the proposed campaign, hoping that it would “better inform the public about the application of biotechnology to food and agricultural production,” arguing that “all major scientific bodies, including all federal health agencies, have said that genetically engineered foods are safe.”

There was a plenty of pushback against the campaign before this budget passed: State Representative Nita M. Lowey of New York argued that a community outreach program of this kind would be nothing more than a state-funded propaganda campaign for the GMO industry.

It’s still unclear what kind of educational programs the FDA plans to implement, or even when they will launch, but the parameters are broad for what they’re allowed to do: All they’re required to do is collaborate with the Department of Agriculture, and distribute “science-based educational information,” to the public.

There does seem to be a gap between the public and scientific perception of GMOs: Pew found that 88 percent of members of the American Association for the Advancement of Science agree that GMOs are safe to eat. Only 37 percent of the American public agrees.

But the politicians who advocate for this campaign aren’t just looking to inform the public—they have their own interests in mind, too: Take State Representative Robert B. Aderholt, a Republican from Alabama. His campaign received $10,000 from Monsanto in 2016, a company that would greatly benefit from a public more open to eating genetically modified food.

Even if GMOs are safe to eat, they still have problems. For instance, soy farmers who plant genetically modified crops use 28 percent more herbicide than those who don’t. And last October, a thorough New York Times report found that GMO crops don’t significantly increase food production, as promised.

Now that the federal government has taken a clear side on the complex debate over whether or not GMOs are helping our economy and our health or not, it seems as though we can look forward to a future shaped by genetically engineered products—whether we’re ready for them or not.

  1. FDA and Monsanto are in bed together with big pharma. Why wouldn’t you want to poison people and then get your bed fellows to help try and cure your diseases with more poisonous drugs.
It’s basically as simple as this. We are all eating and drinking small amounts of the weed killer roundup. That’s what they’re selling us. Its in our food folks!

  2. The FDA is a sold out bunch of Monsatan transplants who knowingly poison and murder Americans through poisoning.

    • They can’t possibly follow their own advice. Monsanto pays REALLY well. They hire millions of online trolls. Yet, this is NOT food. GMOs should NOT BE LEGAL. Period.

No one can toy with nature and expect a positive result. Only liberals and believers of the nonsense Eugenics theory believe that. Only deities, GODS can properly change genetics, DNA. We can change our epigenetics, RNA.

I also question if anything that doesn’t meet every mainstream and private “organic” label qualification should even be legal for sale or consumption because I’m seriously feeling non-GMO is not good enough. The sheeple accept too much junk, just because they can input it into their mouths and not get immediately sick.

Doublespeak. GMOs healthy = they are hazardous.

I’m basically bordering vegetarian at this point. They say avoid eggs, I eat more. They say eat grass grains, I eat actual grains. They said avoid red meat, that’s probably the only organic meat I’ll end up eating. They say stuff my face with fat-removed dairy, I avoid it and only eat raw or organic full-fat dairy. They say use oils, I use real butter, period.

Screw them. My ancestors didn’t get me here by eating what Americans consider “Italian/mediterranean”, “Chinese”/”Japanese” food or “BBQ”, or “hardy”, or whatever other nonsense.

Everything they say to do, or promote, or push, etc., is designed specifically to destroy in a certain way.
