
A black cab burst into flames on one of the hottest days in London closing traffic in both directions on Blackfriars Bridge.

Dramatic pictures show the vehicle engulfed by flames on Blackfriars Bridge around noon today.

Plumes of smoke from the blazing cab could be seen across the capital.
London Fire Brigade tweeted a picture of the smoking vehicle, which forced the closure of the bridge in both directions.
A spokesman said: “The taxi fire on Blackfriars Bridge is under control.
“No reports of any injuries. The cause is under investigation.”

Transport for London said traffic was being held in both directions.
Long delays are expeted.
