Magnitude 4.3 Earthquake Strikes Fontana, California

According to the U.S. Geological Survey a magnitude 4.3 earthquake centered in Fontana occurred at 5:54 a.m Saturday morning.

A preliminary magnitude of 4.3 was given for the quake, but USGS downgraded it to a 4.2

The quake was felt over a wide area of the Inland Empire, Orange County and eastern Los Angeles County, according to the USGS who also said that shaking could be felt as far as San Diego County.

Two small aftershocks, magnitudes 1.6 and 1.2, also shook the area shortly before 7 a.m.

The epicenter was near the intersection of Sierra and Fontana avenues.

As of 7 am, more than 3,000 people in the Southern California have reported feeling the quake to the USGS

There have been no immediate reports of damage or injury.
