Marco Rubio: ‘If You Criticize Israel You Will Be Denied a Visa To The United States’

Fact checked by The People's Voice Community

Secretary of State Marco Rubio has declared that any foreign national who criticizes Israel will be denied a U.S. visa—or, if already in the country, will be summarily deported.

The policy exposes a glaring double standard that is impossible to ignore: the U.S. government does not ban people for criticizing America itself, but a single word against Israel is now apparently grounds for exile.

Here’s where the hypocrisy becomes breathtaking. The U.S. Constitution’s First Amendment protects even the harshest criticism of the U.S. government. Anyone can burn the flag, call the president a war criminal, and protest U.S. foreign policy—all without losing their right to remain in the country.

But if you criticize Israel, you are now a national security threat. Not America—Israel.

The administration’s legal justification is thin at best. When denying visas to the Palestinian delegation, the State Department invoked “national security” and cited the PLO Commitments Compliance Act and the Middle East Peace Commitments Act . But these laws were never intended to create an Israel-specific speech code for the entire world.

Critics have pointed out that even if such statutes existed, they would likely conflict with the UN Headquarters Agreement, which obligates the U.S. to allow UN-invited delegates to enter the country . The UN itself has expressed concern that the U.S. actions violate international law.

Meanwhile, the administration is also using AI to scan social media posts of visa holders and applicants—specifically looking for criticism of Israel . The State Department claims it is simply enforcing immigration law, but the targeting is undeniable.
