Netanyahu Blasts US Citizens ‘Demonizing’ Israel Online — While Living Off Their Tax Dollars

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrived in Washington today not to apologize for the staggering civilian death toll in Gaza or to explain decades of U.S. espionage, but to lecture the American public for daring to criticize Israel online.

Speaking on Capitol Hill after meeting with Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson, Netanyahu railed against what he called a “concerted, directed, and funded” campaign of social media “vilification” — a campaign he claims is to blame for plummeting U.S. support for Israel.

“It is malignant,” Netanyahu said of the criticism from the majority of US citizens, vowing to “spread the truth” in the coming months to reclaim American support for Israel.

But the truth, as many Americans see it, is simple: they’re tired of being forced to bankroll a foreign state that wages endless war, spies on its allies, and demands unconditional loyalty while offering none in return.

A growing number of U.S. voters — particularly younger generations — are asking why billions of their tax dollars continue flowing to a heavily militarized, nuclear-armed country whose policies are increasingly out of step with American values.

In addition to the $3.8 billion in annual military aid, the U.S. is effectively underwriting Israel’s occupation of the West Bank, where far-right settler communities — many of whom don’t work and receive full government benefits — expand illegally and violently, often with the support of Israeli soldiers armed and funded by the American taxpayer.

Meanwhile, at home, Americans are told that there’s no money to fix crumbling infrastructure, no money to guarantee healthcare, and no money to save Social Security. But there’s always money for Israel — whether it’s for Iron Dome missiles, bulldozers to level Gazan homes, or subsidies for ultra-Orthodox settlers who refuse to serve in the military or participate in the labor force.

Netanyahu’s complaints about online criticism come as public opinion continues to shift. A recent Gallup poll shows that sympathy for Israel among Americans has fallen to a historic low, with only 38% of Democrats now siding with Israel — a reversal of a decade ago, when the majority did. The reason isn’t “malignant disinformation.” It’s Gaza. It’s the occupation. It’s the 60,000 Palestinians killed in a scorched-earth campaign that has left much of the coastal strip in ruins and millions facing famine.

It’s also the long and sordid record of Israel spying on the very government that props it up. From the Jonathan Pollard case to Pegasus spyware scandals and beyond, Israel has repeatedly been caught surveilling American officials, journalists, and even members of Congress. And yet, Washington keeps writing blank checks.

The Israeli Prime Minister’s visit to Congress — predictably fawning on the Republican side — reflects how out of touch the political elite is with the American people. Netanyahu is not here to listen. He’s here to scold and manipulate. He doesn’t want a conversation. He wants obedience.

But that grip is slipping. Americans are waking up — not because of bots or propaganda, but because they’re seeing the truth with their own eyes. They’re tired of footing the bill for someone else’s war. They’re tired of being guilt-tripped into silence. And they’re tired of being told that standing up for human rights is somehow anti-Semitic.

Netanyahu can blame social media all he wants. The real problem is policy. And Americans are finally paying attention.
