WHO on Brink of Collapse as Italy Moves to Join Trump-Led Exodus

Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini is calling for Italy to follow Donald Trump’s lead and cut ties with the World Health Organization (WHO), pushing for a bold new law to sever the country’s involvement with the globalist health body.

“I presented this morning at the Chamber of Deputies, the League’s bill to leave the WHO (World Health Organization), as did the United States with Donald Trump,” Salvini, leader of the far-right League party, said on social media Thursday evening.

“Italy must no longer have to deal with a supranational power center — handsomely financed by Italian taxpayers — which goes hand in hand with the multinational pharmaceutical companies. Let’s use those 100 million to support the sick in Italy and finance our hospitals and doctors!” he added.

Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, one of Trump’s closest allies in Europe, has not yet commented on Salvini’s proposal. A spokesperson for Meloni said she did not yet have a position on it, AFP reported.

The League’s proposal comes after Trump signed an executive order on Monday to withdraw the United States from the WHO.

In response, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on Thursday that the organization is freezing recruitment and slashing travel to cope with the “more acute” financial situation.
