Paedophile Jimmy SaVile was allegedly helped by a police inspector while awaiting investigation by Surrey Police over sexual offences against children.
The former West Yorkshire Police inspector who was alleged to have intervened on behalf of his friend Jimmy Savile in an inquiry into child sexual abuse has been cleared after a two-year investigation.
The former inspector was accused of helping the SaVile by contacting Surrey Police on his behalf before they quizzed the former BBC celebrity/paedophile in 2009.

The former inspector, who has not been named, was accused of contacting Surrey Police before they quizzed the ex-BBC star in 2009 over allegations of sexual offences.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) tonight said the officer has “no case to answer”.
An IPCC spokesman said: “An IPCC investigation has concluded that a former West Yorkshire Police officer has no case to answer over allegations that he ‘acted on behalf’ of Jimmy Savile by inappropriately contacting Surrey Police ahead of a police interview in 2009.”
West Yorkshire Police was ordered by the IPCC in 2013 to refer the conduct of the officer.
The force said it had no comment to make tonight.
