In a revealing interview, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu picked up a journalist’s iPhone, held it up to the camera, and admitted Israel can hack the personal devices of critics and destroy their reputations.
“You’re not immune either,” Netanyahu told CBS’s 60 Minutes with correspondent Major Garrett, after snatching his iPhone. “Because you can penetrate this machine. You can penetrate this little instrument. And you can say about Major Garrett anything you want. And I can paint you as a monster. And if I say it often enough, enough people will believe it.”
The moment came as Netanyahu addressed Israel’s challenges in the court of public opinion. He openly admitted that Israel is “besieged on the media front, on the propaganda front,” and declared that his government has “not done well on the propaganda war.”
