The “Doomsday Planes” are in the air. The Pentagon is building fortresses to withstand a three month power cut and grid collapse. And a former FBI deputy director is telling Americans to stock up on food and water “today.”
The Boeing E-4B Nightwatch—the airborne command post designed to survive nuclear blasts and electromagnetic pulses—was tracked circling Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska, the home of U.S. nuclear command. The Navy’s E-6B Mercury, another aircraft tasked with relaying nuclear launch orders if ground command is destroyed, has also been spotted conducting touch-and-go manoeuvres at civilian airports in California.

The timing is impossible to ignore. These doomsday flights coincide with the revelation of FORTRESS—a Pentagon initiative that predicts the civilian power grid, water supply, and global supply chains may all fail simultaneously. And warnings by at least 18 world governments that citizens should prepare for a disaster involving grid collapse.

“Power Is Combat Now”
Pentagon Chief Spokesperson Sean Parnell confirmed the FORTRESS plan to Fox News, and his language was not the language of routine preparedness.

“We don’t want to rely on standard civilian municipal infrastructure to run our national defense. We just simply can’t. It’s an intolerable risk,” Parnell said. “Power is combat now. Without electricity, you lose communications, water, logistics, assembly lines and just basic military command structures”.
Under FORTRESS, launched by Hegseth on September 30, every major military installation in the continental United States must be capable of sustaining essential operations for at least 90 days without any outside support—independent electricity, water, fuel, and communications.
The plan envisions portable nuclear reactors, large-scale battery storage, and microgrids to sever bases from the vulnerable civilian grid, along with strategic reserves of ammunition, fuel, critical minerals, and medical supplies.
“Fortress My House”
The most urgent warning did not come from the Pentagon. It came from Dan Bongino, the former Deputy Director of the FBI, who went on his podcast Monday with a direct message to the public: prepare now.
“Get your stuff today. Please. Do it for your family,” Bongino said. “The Pentagon’s doing its job to keep our national security safe and make ‘Fortress America.’ You have to make ‘Fortress my house,’ ‘Fortress my apartment.’ Your neighbors are not going to have any extra food”.
Bongino recommended emergency radios, batteries, emergency food, rain collection systems, water filtration, and filtration tablets—the same three-day minimum that European governments including the UK, Sweden, Germany, and France have urged their citizens to maintain.
“You’re On Your Own”
Not everyone is buying the official reassurance. Former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene took to X with a blistering reply: “The Pentagon just told all U.S. military bases to prepare to be fully fortified for 90 days under the FORTRESS plan, but they didn’t tell the American people anything!”
Greene wrote . “Like nothing. So basically that’s like saying, ‘You’re on your own.’ … Not sending the message that they are on their own to starve, freeze, or eat each other while you wage world war 3”.
Her post captured what many are feeling: the government is building its fortress, but the public gets kept in the dark with a three-day supply list and a podcast warning.
