Richard Branson’s top chef has been found dead in suspicious circumstances on Necker Island, the billionaire’s private retreat located next to Jeffrey Epstein’s Little St. James, better known as Pedophile Island.
According to local reports, Sihle Somdaka, an executive sous-chef on Branson’s private island in the British Virgin Islands, was fatally injured late Friday after driving an electric buggy off the road on a steep hillside shortly after leaving a party at the island’s main house.
Police in the British Virgin Islands confirmed they are investigating the incident. Somdaka was transported to Peebles Hospital on Tortola, where he was pronounced dead.

Branson’s resort group, Virgin Limited Edition, issued a statement expressing condolences and support for Somdaka’s family and colleagues, calling him “an integral part of the team.”

Necker Island lies in the British Virgin Islands, just north of Virgin Gorda. Roughly 34 miles away, across open sea, sits Little Saint James, better known as Pedophile Island, once owned by Jeffrey Epstein, an associate of Branson’s.
The sudden death immediately drew comparisons to a similar tragedy in 2023 involving Tafari Campbell, a personal chef who had worked for Barack Obama. Campbell drowned while paddleboarding near the Obamas’ estate on Martha’s Vineyard. The Massachusetts medical examiner ruled the death an accidental drowning.
Two high-profile chefs, both working for powerful figures, both dying in freak accidents. Statistically, accidents happen — but such parallels inevitably fuel speculation.
