Senator Donna Campbell passed the bill that will ensure that no laws from foreign courts will be adopted by Texas civil court judges.

“It’s just to provide some belt and suspenders to make sure that, with judicial discretion, we don’t trump Texas law, American law, with a foreign law regarding family law,” Campbell said.
Muslim groups say the bill is a ‘solution looking for problem, and claim that the bill has its genesis in an anti Muslim demonstration on the steps of the Texas Capitol in January in which the proposal was cheered.
State Sen. Kirk Watson (D-Austin) grilled Campbell on examples she has seen of foreign law being used in Texas courts.
“What foreign law are you attempting to prevent being used, and can you give examples of where it has created a problem in the state?” Watson asked.
“No foreign law,” Campbell replied. “This just provides a context for judicial discretion.”

Texas is a typical republican state, which was one of the strongest proponent of Racial segregation. The state of Texas enacts multiple laws to disenfranchise the Hispanic voters. Texas has one of the highest number of capital punishments in the world. So it is not a progressive liberal state. The USA in general and Texas in particular has very small Muslim population. So enactment of Sharia is totally unimaginable. By such signposts the bigoted policymakers are engendering a false sense of insecurity (as if TX is being invaded by Muslims) among the stupid republicans and then they are instilling the sense of security by making it clear to their stupid audience that it won’t happen! If you needed more proof of bigotry of Texans, here you go: “The Texas Nationalist Movement, a 12-year-old group that wants the Lone Star State to be politically, culturally and economically independent, is now calling on Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to support a British-style vote there.” In a fair world I would have loved to see such a billboard somewhere in Iraq saying that George Bush of Texas is not allowed in this land and the same being respected by the George Stupid Bush who smelled WMD in Iraq.
