Ukrainian officials want president Volodymr Zelensky to travel to the US by the end of the week to “make a deal” with President Donald Trump on an American-drafted peace plan.
Ukraine’s security chief Rustem Umerov, said on Tuesday the US and Ukraine had reached “a common understanding on the key terms of the agreement discussed” in Geneva, ” without elaborating further on the details.
French President Emmanuel Macron has said Washington’s proposal still needs to be “discussed, negotiated, and improved,” summing up the joint stance of the EU and UK.

RT reports: Western media claimed on Tuesday that US Army Secretary Dan Driscoll has been holding talks with Russian officials in Abu Dhabi, presenting them with a new version of the peace plan. The draft was reportedly amended during discussions between American and Ukrainians delegations in Switzerland over the weekend. The Kremlin has declined to confirm that negotiations are underway.

Driscoll, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and special envoy Steve Witkoff met with Ukrainian officials at the American mission in Geneva on Sunday as Trump’s deadline – set for Thursday – for Kiev to agree to his proposal looms. Rubio said afterwards that “tremendous progress” had been made during the discussions.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio had to respond to numerous calls from “irate” European officials and US lawmakers, the outlet’s sources claim.
The EU and UK hastily put together their own pro-Ukrainian counter-plan, but Rubio said during talks with Kiev’s representatives in Geneva on the weekend that he had not even heard about the European initiative.
