By definition, a GMO, or genetically modified organism, is the result of a laboratory process where genes from the DNA of one species are extracted and artificially forced into the genes of an unrelated plant or animal.
The foreign genes may come from bacteria, viruses, insects, and even humans in some cases.
The debate rages on about whether or not these genetically modified ingredients should appear in our food.
All we can do is be educated about it and make the right choices.
