A pro-Hillary Super PAC has admitted spending $1 million to employ an army of trolls to “push back” against users of social networks including Twitter, Facebook, Reddit and Instagram who criticize Hillary Clinton.

Correct The Record’s “Barrier Breakers” project admitted in a press release that it pays young people to pretend to be Hillary Clinton supporters, and claims that 5,000 unsuspecting social media users have already been “addressed” by the PAC’s mercenary social media warriors – with the promise that many more will be “corrected” in the near future.

Bernie Sanders supporting Reddit users claim they have already begun to notice the work of the Clinton mercenaries.

This explains why my inbox turned to cancer on Tuesday,” wrote user OKarizee. “Been a member of reddit for almost 4 years and never experienced anything like it. In fact, in all my years on the internet I’ve never experienced anything like it.”

Correct the Record, which has received $6.3 million this campaign season and has spent almost $6 million of it, according to OpenSecrets.org, outlined its strategy against “swarms of anonymous attackers” in a press release.

Hillary’s supporters are more enthusiastic than Sen. Bernie Sanders’ supporters, yet oftentimes are discouraged from engaging online and are “often afraid to voice their thoughts” because of the fear of online harassment.

While Hillary Clinton fights to break down barriers and bring America together, the Barrier Breakers 2016 digital task force will serve as a resource for supporters looking for positive content and push-back to share with their online progressive communities, as well as thanking prominent supporters and committed superdelegates on social media,” the statement read.

The press release also referenced “lessons learned” from dealings with “Bernie Bros,” and promises to target Sanders supporters closer to the general election to push them to vote for Clinton.

Lessons learned from online engagement with “Bernie Bros” during the Democratic Primary will be applied …. responding quickly and forcefully to negative attacks and false narratives. Additionally, as the general election approaches, the task force will begin to push out information to Sanders supporters online, encouraging them to support Hillary Clinton.

How much does trolling does $6 million dollars buy you in 2016? Ask a Bernie Sanders supporter on social media – they are receiving the brunt of it.

And to think Trump gets all his trolls for free.

  1. Whatever they are paying their shills, it’s too much because they are easy to identify, stupid, and easily ignored.  But by all means keep wasting your money Hillary.  You’ll wish you had it when it’s time to get cigarettes from the commissary in prison.

  2. They paid people to take the seats of the Bernie Sanders’ delegates at the Convention too just to make it look like a full venue.

  3. I hate to admit that it seems to be working to misdirect discussion. The meme stash went from funny memes to a freaking online battlefield. Can i just browse in peace?

  4. David Brock, owner of Correct the Record and Barrier Breakers, is the scum of the earth dog that Bernie once referred to. Why this bimbo did a 180 turnaround after writing the Troopergate story, which led to Paula Jones filing a lawsuit against Bill Clinton and became a shill for the Clintons is still a mystery.
At any rate, the mere fact that they have to spend millions to get people to post online is ludicrous. They are monotonous, repetitious, and post canned, derogatory rhetoric.
How will that help her campaign? Answer – it won’t.

  5. “push back”  I had the pleasure of dealing with these trolls.  And, using the term trolls is being kind.  There was no “push back.”   They were ALL abusive, low information trolls,  engaging in purely personal attacks.  NOT ONE of these trolls attempted to use real facts or real arguments.  There soul purpose was attempting to demoralize Bernie Sanders supporters.  IT DID NOT WORK.  NO candidate who has to resort to such garbage is fit to be President !!!

    • Agree with everything you’ve said except that they are “low information”.  They are armed with a list of talking points easily accessible and quickly do cut and paste jobs on their posts.  MISinformation is probably more accurate then low-information.  That’s one of the ways you can spot them, they’re rapid-fire quick if you as them for reference.

  6. Yes, i’ve met a few. some tell tale signs :

    TROLL PATROL
    1. too often they change the subject when clinton is criticized, derailing the discussion
    2. too often they refuse/fail to respond to the substance of a criticism or article, despite repeated requests to do so. one person i continually tried to engage, politely asking him to respond to my points simply repeated each time either an insult or some cliche. turned out he was a dem party hack.
    3. simliar to to service reps on the phone when you have a complaint and you begin to realize they are reading from a script, can’t be responsive to your complaint because they’re not allowed to.
    4. add to the list ?

    • they’re everywhere.  Lot of sock puppet accounts on Twitter – though these regularly get smoked out.  They love The Hill and are very aggressive there.  Oh, they really love Youtube where they not only post but they rack up complaints or flags on legitimate users.  Basically, any on-line publication that posts a negative story about Hillary, they will be there in droves.

  7. The comment section is often the only place people go. Read the first few lines of the article until you get to the first hook and then scroll to the bottom and shoot back.
