Dr Fauci: Pulling Back On Restrictions Is ‘Premature’ Warns New Covid Cases Remain High

Appearing on CBS’s “Face the Nation” on Sunday Dr. Anthony Fauci said it was “premature” to pull back on covid meausres such as wearing face masks and social distancing because new coronavirus cases remain high.

Fauci warned there was a risk of a new surge of Covid infections as the number of daily cases in the U.S. had remained at a plateau.

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases head also said that spring break travel and virus variants are also driving up the still-high number of infections.

CBS News reports: While the nation experienced a sharp decline in coronavirus cases from January to early March, the number of daily new infections has hovered between roughly 50,000 and 60,000, according to data from the Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention (CDC). On Friday, the number of new cases reached 71,593, as 30 states and the District of Columbia reported a rise in infections.

A leveling-off at such a high rate of infection is “a risk,” Fauci said.

While new coronavirus variants identified in the United Kingdom and South Africa are “playing a part” in the spikes of new cases, Fauci said, an increase in travel for spring break and rolling back of mitigation methods have also contributed.

“Several states have done that. I believe it’s premature,” he said of lifting measures such as mask mandates.

The rising COVID-19 infections comes amid the Biden administration’s efforts to accelerate the pace of coronavirus vaccinations. To more quickly deliver shots into the arms of Americans, the federal government has begun supplying vaccine doses directly to pharmacies and community health centers, and last week announced a $10 billion commitment to ensure the vaccines are being distributed equitably.

President Biden announced Thursday he doubled the nation’s goal of vaccinations within his first 100 days in office to 200 million doses. The U.S. is now administering between 3 and 3.5 million vaccines daily, and 140 million doses total have been administered, according to the CDC. More than 27% of the entire U.S. population has received at least one dose of their COVID-19 vaccines — vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna require two shots, while Johnson & Johnson’s requires just one.

Fauci said that if the U.S. continues at a pace of more than 3 million daily doses administered, “invariably that’s going to drive the rate and the level of infections per day to a much, much lower level.”

“If we get into the summer and you have a considerable percentage of of the population vaccinated and the level in the community gets below that plateau that’s worrying me and my colleagues in public health, it is conceivable that you would have a good degree of flexibility during the summer, even with the children, with things like camps,” he said. “We don’t know that for sure, but I think that’s an aspirational goal that we should go for.”

Fauci predicted that there will be an incremental easing of some coronavirus restrictions heading into the late spring and early summer as more Americans receive their vaccines.

“There are 50 million people in this country that are fully vaccinated. That’s a lot of people. And every day we get more and more,” he said. “I would expect that as we get through the summer, late spring, early summer, there’s going to be a relaxation where you’re going to have more and more people who will be allowed into baseball parks, very likely separated with seating, very likely continuing to wear masks. As we get a really, really low level of infection, you’re going to start seeing a pulling back on some of those restrictions, I hope. And I think that’s going to happen. I think if we do it correctly and we get the vaccines out at the rate we’re doing, that will happen.”

    • Damned lies and statistics ? Covid propaganda Look I’ve seen the videos of the team leaders made in 2016 where they discussed PRECISELY how a pandemic was coming and exactly how they were TO FLOOD the media with the propaganda .In 2016 .

  2. Remember the first film out if Wuhan ? Some epileptic looking person or actor, falling down and convulsing violently in the street ,” secret footage ” that could have come from any hollywood studio of masses of bodies and or coffins being moved about? Remember How odd never did we ever see another epileptic attack of covid in a similar aged young person anywhere again ? Go figure .Remember the NY nurses heartbreaking confession revealing that they were killing people with their civud ” treatment ” by literally overcoming oxygen until their lungs ? Remeber the Drs coming forward declaring it was all a fraud ? Remember the iver 500 Drs from germany alone or Germany and europe whi tried to get the truth out ? Remender hiw big tech censored them and msm coynterattacjed by piling in their propagandas in such a deluge they flooded the world ? That’s how they work Just overbearingly ” infallible ” .No reasoned debates, no rights to disagree Just their story .Dictatorial .All who disagree ,bo matter how experienced educated knowledgable all dismissed as wrong ,all who font even stand to gain one cent from their accounts of the matter ,but only approval from msm and big tech for rhe story that will ge erate trillions and maximise complete control and domination over the entire world .For them Their class. .

    • I do believe they were purposely killing people in the beginning. My theory is they were squads of CIA doctors and nurses that would pick some victims and choose ones that would be moved to ventilators and there they would introduce Ricin powder into the patient. This would throw off any suspicion of the poisoning because symptoms are so similar to what they are saying covid is.
I think they did this in the beginning to get the panic factor up. they could kill some younger and healthier patients this way. Ricin inhalation is fatal in most all cases.

      • The nurse from New York examined they simply were ordered to ” pop ” their lungs by overfilling them with oxygen Lije accelerated emphysema And the Drs have said they they were ordered to write Covid as the cause if death in the certificates All over the world they were ordered to do that .Here years ago the Goody two shes brigade were offering free lung testing capacity tests in the states busiest shopping location One of the team told me how they testing could actually easily pop a person’s lungs the way they were doing it

    • they turned into covid infections, just like fatal motorcycle accidents are turning into covid deaths, so are heart attacks now covid.

This comment does not contradict official CDC policy, nor does it promote it. It only offers the reader some insight and analysis to the reported data by Johns Hopkins University. Given the mortality rate, inferences can be made about the number of people in a location that are actively contagious.

The number of recently reported deaths certainly gives a good indication that the variant viruses are real.

What differentiates the “variant” from the original is the apparent speed at which the variant appears and then disappears. The original, less contagious, COVID-19 faced little population immunity. And because of that, the outbreaks were gradual and lasted months. These new variants seem to spread quicky, do their damage, and then run into a wall of local population immunity; either from prior exposure to the original virus, or the vaccine.

At least one “new” outbreak can be tracked as it works its way through the US. Toward the end of February, a sharp spike in the number of deaths in Virginia indicated a corresponding increase in the number of infectious people, proportional to the state’s population.

During the second week of February, a sharp increase in the number of deaths in West Virginia indicated a corresponding increase in the number of infectious people in that state, proportional to the state’s population; while the deaths in Virginia significantly decreased, indicating that the number of infectious people in Virginia sharply decreased.

Then, in the third week of March, the number of deaths in Kentucky sharply increased, indicating a corresponding increase in the number of infectious people in that state, proportional to that state’s population. And in the fourth week of March, the number of deaths sharply decreased in West Virginia.

I’m hoping to see the number of deaths in Kentucky sharply decrease soon.

Aside from the normal list of variables involved, the proximity of the states and the percentage of people who have either been previously exposed to the original virus, or have already been given the vaccine, must be considered significant controlling factors in both the spread of the new outbreaks, and their short duration.

It seems that the virus variants are no more deadly than the original, however they are much more contagious.

Of the 548,828 reported deaths so far, only 1.5% of those deaths are from people younger than 50. I would strongly suggest that those people over 50 get vaccinated since this virus and its variants seem to be particularly deadly to those older people.

And since it is only reasonable to expect that, eventually, a newer variant will inevitably become more deadly, and possibly to age groups who are much younger, I would suggest that people under 50 seriously consider taking the vaccine as well.

Inevitably, a more deadly variant will appear. We will always have the ability to quickly manufacture the vaccines that are now available. That means, of course, that a large number of people, who have chosen to remain unvaccinated against the current strain, will die during the several months that the vaccine is once again mass produced.

But that’s the gamble. If, by not taking the vaccine, a person contracts the original virus now and survives, their immune system will most likely be better capable of fighting future variants of the virus.

The worst thing that could happen to an individual is that they do not contract the virus now, do not take the vaccine now, and get exposed to a more deadly variant in the future when they are older and their immune system is less capable of fighting it off.

I suspect that it is better that a proportion of the population does not take the vaccine. The idea of putting all our eggs in one evolutionary basket worries me. Yes, I was inoculated with the vaccine.
