At the center of that case: roughly $225,000 allegedly moved out of a dormant campaign account tied to former HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra. Prosecutors say it was disguised as consulting payments that benefited a former senior aide.

From there, the scope widened, building a much larger picture than a single financial scheme, and pulling in figures around Governor Gavin Newsom and his wife.

What started as a fraud case in Sacramento is now unfolding like a network map—one wire, one cooperation agreement, and one recorded conversation at a time.

Here’s where it gets dark. According to FBI insiders, the bureau is covering up the extent of the investigation. They say Newsom was recorded during a visit to Bohemian Grove, where he allegedly sold his soul in exchange for the 2028 presidency.
