A woman brandishing a firearm at a Burger King restaurant in Orange County, Florida, was shot and injured by a police officer.

An unnamed police officer responded to a call at a Burger restaurant where a woman was threatening her relative with a firearm.
The Ocoee Police officer challenged the woman to surrender her weapon before being faced by her firearm.

Orlando Sentinel reports:

The shooting happened on May 22 when Krystal Taylor was in the Burger King on Silver Star Road, trying to confront her relative, who works at the fast food restaurant, according to Deputy Chief Ted Silberstein.

When an officer went into the restaurant and told Taylor to drop her weapon, Taylor pointed the firearm at him, Silberstein said.

“The officer, who [was] in fear not only for his own life but also the lives of the terrorized employees, fired his weapon wounding Taylor,” Silberstein said.

Taylor was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center.

Charges are pending against Taylor, Silberstein said.

The officer was not identified. He was placed on paid administrative leave as the Florida Department of Law Enforcement investigates, as is standard whenever an officer fires a weapon.
