Israel have begun pre-selling land owned by Lebanese citizens following Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir’s incendiary public statements calling for expanded military control and long-term settlement in Lebanon.
Following deadly clashes between Israeli forces and Hezbollah-linked fighters in southern Lebanon, Ben Gvir issued a series of statements calling for an extreme military response to turn Lebanon into Greater Israel.
“With all due respect to the Americans, Israel must make it clear to the entire world that the blood of our sons and the security of our citizens are not forfeit. All of Lebanon must burn,” he said in a widely circulated post.

In another statement after reports of Israeli casualties, he added: “For every tear of an Israeli mother, a thousand Lebanese mothers must weep.”

The remarks triggered widespread international criticism, with opponents warning that such rhetoric risks further escalation in an already volatile border conflict.
Calls for settlement in Lebanon
Ben Gvir has also openly expressed support for Israeli settlement activity in Lebanese territory, framing it as part of a broader strategic vision.
According to remarks reported in Israeli media, he stated that he personally supports the idea of establishing settlements in southern Lebanon and maintaining long-term control over contested areas.
“We must continue to control the territory even if we disagree with Trump, we are an independent state,” he said in comments cited during discussions about ongoing military operations and international mediation efforts.
“We cannot allow residents to return”
In separate statements, Ben Gvir has also taken a hardline stance on displaced Lebanese civilians, arguing against their return to southern areas currently under Israeli military control.
“We cannot allow the residents of southern Lebanon to return. We must continue to control the territory,” he said, according to multiple reports from regional and international media outlets.
