Newly released footage appears to show Alex Pretti spitting at ICE officers inside their vehicles, verbally abusing them, and kicking the taillight out of one of their vehicles during a confrontation that took place before he was fatally shot.
ICE officers can be seen tackling Pretti to the ground but then releasing him in the face of an enraged crowd of “protesters.”
A gun could be seen in his waistband as he was let go.

On January 13th, The News Movement filmed a man who appears to be Alex Pretti interacting with federal immigration agents. Our footage was analyzed by the BBC, whose facial recognition technology confirmed his identity to a 97% degree of accuracy.
We were filming a documentary about ICE activity in Minneapolis when we received a tip that federal agents were blocking a street, and captured this footage.
Reporting by Dan Ming, Dallin Mello, and BBC Verify.
The Minnesota Star Tribune published footage of the same confrontation from a different angle on Wednesday, and a spokesperson for Alex Pretti’s family and his family’s attorney confirmed the man in the video was Pretti.
Information Liberation report: New video of the incident from a different angle shows Pretti told the ICE officer, “Assault me, motherfucker,” and then tried to spit on him inside of his vehicle.
