A major police investigation has been launched after a severed human head was found in a skip in Cambridgeshire, England
The head was found by a quarry worker at the Mick George quarry in Mepal, between Chatteris and Ely, on Monday afternoon.

A quarry worker, who asked not to be named, claimed his colleague spotted the head lying on top of a skip and believed it to belong to a woman in her 30s or 40s.

The head was found on Monday afternoon at the Mick George quarry in Mepal, which operates as a disposal facility for asbestos, contaminated soils and other hazardous waste.
Police officers have not been able to determine if the head belongs to a man or a woman. Investigators are also working to establish how long the remains had been at the site.
A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Police said, “Officers from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit are conducting enquiries, both locally and across the county borders.”
Detective Inspector Jerry Waite urged “anyone with information about the finding to contact us.”
He said officers were looking at a site in Sharnbrook, Bedfordshire, where the remains are suspected to have come from.
