Russian servicemen, weaponry arrive in China for Peace Mission 2014 exercises

Over 900 Russian servicemen and at least 100 pieces of weaponry have arrived in China to take part in the Peace Mission 2014 counter-terrorism exercises, the spokesman for the Eastern Military District, Colonel Alexander Gordeyev told ITAR-TASS on Wednesday.

According to earlier reports, the Peace Mission 2014 exercises will be held at the Zhurihe training base in the Chinese autonomous region of Inner Mongolia on August 24-29.

Gordeyev said Russian tank and motor rifle units, Grad multiple launch system batteries, Gvozdika self-propelled howitzers, mortar crews, Shilka air defense gun vehicles, and snipers would take part in the exercises.

Also participating will be eight Mi-8 helicopters, four Su-25 attack aircraft and two Il-76 transport planes.
