A Yale psychiatrist and medical doctor joined MSNBC to recommend that liberals totally sever all ties with pro-Trump family members and refuse to see them on holidays.
On Thursday’s episode of The ReidOut, host Joy Reid discussed the upcoming holiday season with Dr. Amanda Calhoun, Chief Resident at the Yale Albert J. Solnit Integrated Adult/Child Psychiatry Program.
Reid asked Calhoun for advice on how liberals should approach interactions with family and friends who voted for Donald Trump.

“There’s this societal norm that if somebody is your family, they are entitled to your time. And I think the answer is absolutely not,” Calhoun replied.

To deal with family and friends “who you know have voted in ways that are against you, against your livelihood, it’s completely fine to not be around those people and to tell them why,” Calhoun continued.
“So if you are going to a situation where you have family members, where you have close friends who you know have voted in ways that are against you, against your livelihood, it’s completely fine to not be around those people and to tell them why.”
“You know, to say, ‘I have a problem with the way that you voted because it went against my very livelihood, and I’m not going to be around you this holiday. I need to take some space for me,’” she added.
In an post Saturday, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said the psychiatrist’s response to family members and friends who voted for Trump was “mental illness.”
Conservative commentator Megyn Kelly also weighed in, saying, “Look at these nutcases.”
