Ebola may have arrived in Los Angeles

KTLA are today reporting:

‘A “possible Ebola patient” who was admitted to an emergency room in Inglewood after arriving at LAX and traveling from Liberia, the hospital announced Wednesday.

A man was brought to Centinela Hospital in Inglewood Tuesday night with Ebola-like symptoms. He later tested negative for the virus.

The individual was brought to Centinela Hospital Medical Center by ambulance from Los Angeles International Airport on Tuesday night, the hospital stated.

The announcement in Inglewood came the same day as Dallas hospital officials said that Ebola patient Thomas Eric Duncan had died. He had traveled to the United States from Liberia, and did not develop symptoms until after his arrival in Texas.’

Linda Bradley, CEO of Centinela Hospital Medical Center said in a statement: “Our ER team did a precise and thorough job of implementing our full protocol. They acted quickly and decisively in determining the status of the patient and contacted all necessary authorities.”

It has not been confirmed whether this new patient has Ebola. A hospital spokesperson said he had “some sort of illness.”

According to the CDC, the symptoms of Ebola include the following:

  • Fever
  • Severe headache
  • Muscle pain
  • Weakness
  • Diarrhea
  • Vomiting
  • Abdominal pain
  • Unexplained hemorrhage
