CNN operative Jake Tapper was roasted online Thursday after he brazenly misidentified the arrested January 6 pipe-bomb suspect Brian Cole Jr. as “a 30-year-old white man” — all while his network deliberately refused to air any photo of the clearly Black suspect.
Tapper delivered the falsehood with his trademark smugness on The Lead: “Brian Cole Jr., a 30-year-old white man from the D.C. suburbs, is charged with transporting an explosive device in interstate commerce and with malicious destruction by means of explosion. CNN observed local and federal law enforcement outside his home in Woodbridge, Virginia, this morning.”

The pipe bombs, planted outside the RNC and DNC headquarters on January 5, 2021, remained unsolved until now — and Tapper’s “error” reeks of intentional bias, as if the facts threatened the network’s anti-white rhetoric.
The truth emerged elsewhere. The New York Post unmasked Cole’s face for the first time post-arrest, publishing a resurfaced photo that demolished CNN’s narrative in an instant. Other outlets followed suit, but CNN? Crickets.
X users filled the void, overlaying Cole’s image onto Tapper’s clip to expose the deceit. One viral post blasted: “HERE WE GO AGAIN: CNN’s Jake Tapper just confidently told the world the J6 pipe bomber was a “white man”… while completely ignoring the surveillance image that shows a suspect who is very clearly not white. And shocker — CNN didn’t show the photo. Not once. Not even for a second.”
The Post also revealed Cole’s father is Black and once retained civil-rights attorney Ben Crump, known for racial-discrimination cases like George Floyd’s — underscoring just how absurd Tapper’s claim was.
Per the FBI affidavit, Cole works at a northern Virginia bail bondsman’s office, lives with his mother and relatives in Woodbridge, and is linked to a network of bail-bonds companies — details that shatter the media’s preferred villain archetype.
Public trust in CNN is plummeting to record lows for good reason. Tapper’s lie is just the latest proof: CNN isn’t news; it’s narrative control, and Americans are waking up.
