The International Monetary Fund (IMF) says it has suspended financial aid to Greece until the formation of a new government in the debt-ridden country.
“Discussions with the Greek authorities on the completion of the sixth review of the [aid] program…will resume once a new government is in place, in consultation with the European Commission and the European Central Bank,” said IMF spokesman, Gerry Rice, on Monday.
However, he stressed that the suspension would not further deteriorate the country’s wavering economy as “Greece faces no immediate financing needs.”
