According to GasBuddy, average retail gasoline prices in Harrisburg fell 2.5 cents in the past week and averaged $2.75 a gallon on Sunday.
Patrick DeHaan, GasBuddy’s senior petroleum analyst, said prices increased in West Coast states, but have now peaked and are moving lower again.
“With oil nearing $50 a barrel, there’s a very good possibility that by mid-fall, gasoline prices could fall under $2 a gallon in a growing number of states,” DeHaan said.
Sunday’s prices were 86-cents a gallon lower than one year ago and are 6.1 cents a gallon lower than a month ago.
