They say birds of a feather flock together and it appears to be true judging by the twitter exchange between Donald Trump and controversial British columnist Katie Hopkins.

In her columns for the Sun earlier in the year, Hopkins caused outrage by referring to refugees and migrants attempting to make their way to Europe as “cockroaches

Mr Trump meanwhile has received condemnation from many after his comments about banning Muslims from entering the US and his perceived view on the ‘radicalistion’ of London. (He calls it a ‘massive Muslim problem’)

The Mayor of London Boris Johnson was among those who condemned Trump after he claimed police officers were “afraid for their lives” due to areas of “radicalisation” in the British capital.

The Metropolitan Police even made a rare intervention, telling Trump he “could not be more wrong”

Yet, despite this, Hopkins, claimed in her Daily Mail column on Wednesday: “there is fear among the police and the public” while going on to praise Trump, saying he was right about the Muslim threat to Britain.

RT reports:

Since causing uproar by suggesting Muslims should be banned from entering the US, Trump has hailed Hopkins for her “powerful writing” on the “UK’s Muslim problems.”

In a series of tweets, Trump said he believed the UK was trying to hide its “Muslim problem,” and lauded Hopkins for speaking out.

“Thank you to respected columnist Katie Hopkins of Daily for her powerful writing on the UK’s Muslim problems,” one tweet read.

“The United Kingdom is trying hard to disguise their massive Muslim problem. Everybody is wise to what is happening, very sad! Be honest,” another read.

Trump called for all Muslims to be banned from entering the US after a lethal shooting in California, where two allegedly radicalized Muslims shot 14 people dead at a care home.

Mr Trump then advised that “politicians of the UK” should read Hopkins’ columns, notes the Independent:

Mr Trump’s tweet has mostly been received with utter bewilderment in the UK, including from Eastenders actor and proud Londoner Danny Dyer:

Hopkins also criticised those who have signed a “hideously impotent petition” to ban Republican candidate from the UK and expressed the view that she does not “buy into the clear divide between extremist Muslims and peaceful ones” and doesn’t see them as “two separate entities”.
