Military Twitter Hack: “ISIS is here … No Mercy”, They Warn

Fact checked by The People's Voice Community

The Twitter account  for one of the U.S. military’s top commands was hacked on Monday with a threatening message from the ISIS terrorist group.

You’ll see no mercy, infidels,” the message warned. “ISIS is already here, we are in your PCs, in each military base.

The @CentCom Twitter account’s first hacked tweet came at 12:29 Monday afternoon, after the account’s profile images had been changed to black and white graphics with the phrases “Cyber Caliphate” and “I love you isis.

The first tweet warned”AMERICAN SOLDIERS, WE ARE COMING, WATCH YOUR BACK. ISIS“.

Another tweet included a photo showing the inside of military office space. Yet another tweet said “Retired Army General Officer Roster” and then showed an image attachment which listed the home addresses, phone numbers and email accounts of generals like Colin Powell, David Petraeus, and Tommy Franks.

We won’t stop! We know everything about you, your wives and children” a following tweet boasted.

Myfoxtampabay.com reports:

The compromised Twitter account normally provides updates on military activities against ISIS and other groups in the region.

CentCom’s YouTube channel was also apparently compromised, with two pro-ISIS propaganda videos newly posted alongside older footage posted by CentCom of airstrikes against an ISIS warehouse.

The Associated Press reported that a “senior defense official” had confirmed that the accounts had indeed been compromised.

Within 45 minutes, the stream of propaganda had stopped and affected accounts had been suspended.
