The unresponsive plane crashed into the ocean about 14 miles off of the coast of Port Antonio, Jamaica, at about 2:15 p.m., according to the FAA. The agency said it was unable to confirm the number of people on board.
NORAD said that the situation may have involved hypoxia, or a low level of oxygen.
The plane was believed to belong to Larry Glazer, a Rochester developer, according to the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle.
We are also hearing reports about a plane being shot down in Iran. So far, we cannot confirm the story. Tweets suggest a reporter was silenced during a press conference with the U.S. State department. One Tweet says:
Press Conf w/ State Dept – @cnn cut out interview after reporter asked about a plane being forced 2 land in Iran w/ US citizen
