Scholar Claims Zionists Perpetuating Iran Nuclear Weapons Myth

American scholar James Henry Fetzer has said that the myth that Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons is propaganda spouted by zionists such as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

“Iran is not pursuing nuclear weapons, as all 16 US intelligence agencies concluded in 2007, reaffirmed in 2011, and even the Mossad in 2012 reported to the [regime] of Israel that Iran was not pursuing nuclear weapons”, he said on national television.

Presstv.com reports:

The propaganda that Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons is “therefore a form of political theater, a charade that appears to be motivated by Zionist concerns, in particular those of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, that Iran is going to extend its influence to the detriment to that of Israel,” he told Press TV on Thursday.
“That of course is not an appropriate ground for sanctions,” said Fetzer, who published more than 100 articles and 20 books on philosophy of science and philosophy of cognitive science.

He made the remarks when asked to comment on Republican US Senator Bob Corker’s push to extend legislation which imposes sanctions on Iran.

Corker, chairman of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said on Wednesday that if Congress does not extend the Iran Sanctions Act (ISA), which expires at the end of 2016, “you have nothing to snap back [at Iran].”

Senators Mark Kirk and Robert Menendez introduced a bill earlier this year to extend the ISA for 10 more years.

The United States, Israel, and some of their allies accuse Iran of pursuing military objectives in its nuclear energy program.

Washington and its allies have imposed illegal sanctions on Iran based on the unfounded accusation that Tehran is pursuing non-civilian objectives in its nuclear program.

Iran rejects the allegation, arguing that as a committed signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), it has the right to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.

“We now know based upon a study in 1987 that Israel has not only had a vast collection of nuclear weapons as of the early 1980s, but even the capacity to develop a hydrogen bomb,” Fetzer told Press TV.

“The policy of Iran is nuclear energy for all, nuclear weapons for none,” he stated.

“I have long believed that it’s the American nuclear industry that wants to keep these sanctions and [prevent] Iran from developing nuclear fuel rods, because Iran can provide them to Third World countries at cheaper costs than can the United States’ industry,” he pointed out.

“Nothing is as it seems to be. Politics in the Middle East are an elaborate political theater,” the American scholar noted.

“And frankly I am ashamed of the United States Senate that even a man who is as decent and responsible as Bob Corker could fail to understand the facts of the matter on the one hand from our own intel agencies — and even from Mossad –  that Iran is not pursing nuclear weapons, and on the other [hand] that the Geneva Conventions’ international law regarding the humane relations between nations, that collective punishments are prohibited, and in fact qualify as war crime,” he concluded.
