The Find of A Lifetime In Boston

An incredible discovery happened in Boston and some are calling it one of the greatest finds in the cities history.  A time capsule believed to be buried by Samuel Adams and Paul Revere and buried in 1795 is currently being painstakingly dug up.

According to a report by local news 13 WMAZ called “1795 time capsule unearthed in Boston” [1], they write:

A crew is at work in Boston unearthing a time capsule believed buried by Samuel Adams and Paul Revere.

The 18th-century capsule was left in a cornerstone of the Massachusetts State House, CNN affiliate WBZ reports. The capsule is believed to date from 1795, when construction started on the building.

The cornerstone has been removed and a worker from the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston was chipping away at it Thursday morning to get at the capsule.

It’s a painstaking process, reports WBZ NewsRadio reporter Carl Stevens.

The capsule was last dug up during emergency repairs to the State House in 1855 and put back in place when the cornerstone was reset, according to State House News Service. It likely contains a collection of coins, an engraved silver plate, newspapers and other artifacts, the news service reported.

Stevens continues to report on the capsule removal and has been live-tweeting throughout the morning.
