Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie became the latest celebrity to suffer a meltdown over ABC’s suspension of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, declaring that she is an “internationalist” who “doesn’t recognize” America anymore.
Speaking at Spain’s San Sebastián film festival, Jolie was asked what she fears most as an artist and an American. The Oscar-winning actress gave a rambling response that revealed more about her jet-setting worldview than about the country she claims to love.
“I love my country, but at this time, I don’t recognise my country,” Jolie said. “I’ve always lived internationally, my family is international, my friends, my life. My worldview is equal, united and international. Anything anywhere that divides or limits personal expressions and freedoms from anyone, I think, is very dangerous.”

Her comments come just days after Jimmy Kimmel Live! was suspended “indefinitely” by ABC, which is owned by Disney.

The suspension followed criticism from FCC chair Brendan Carr after Kimmel lashed out over the shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, sneering that “The MAGA gang [is] desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them.”
Hollywood elites immediately rallied around Kimmel. Jolie, who has worked repeatedly with Disney on films like Maleficent and Marvel’s Eternals, joined fellow Disney stars in sounding the alarm. Mark Ruffalo, who plays the Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, even warned on Threads that Disney stock would “go down a lot further if they cancel” Kimmel permanently, adding: “Disney does not want to be the ones that broke America.”
Other celebrities including Olivia Rodrigo and Pedro Pascal also voiced outrage — proving once again that for Hollywood, “free speech” only seems to matter when it’s their own.
