Florida judge temporarily lifts ban on feeding homeless

Broward Circuit Judge, Thomas Lynch, has temporarily suspended the city’s recent ban on feeding the homeless in public place and ordered mediation on the issue.

Judge Lynch’s ruling comes as a response to 90-year-old homeless advocate Arnold Abbott’s lawsuit challenging the ordinance. The World War II vet  has been feeding the homeless at the city’s beaches in with his group, Love Thy Neighbor, for the last 23 years.

Mr Abbott had been cited for violating the ban on more than one occasion throughout November.

Following a wave of protests the massive backlash culminated this week when hacktivist collective Anonymous released a video demanding a lift on the ban and hackeded at least two Fort Lauderdale government websites
