Video:NYC Cops Dump Protective Gear in Public Trash After Leaving Ebola Danger Zone

Is there another case of Ebola in New York?  According to NY7:

The remains of a woman who died of an apparent heart attack at a hair salon in Brooklyn will be tested for Ebola.

EMS responded to the hair salon on Belmont Avenue in Brownsville around 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

She was declared dead at the scene. The FDNY at the scene confirms that this was a “clean scene,” meaning the woman, in her early 40’s, died without any bodily fluids leaving her body.

The woman had been on the list of those being monitored for Ebola exposure.

She had recently arrived in the city from Guinea and was one of 350 people on the monitor list.

The Department of Health arrived to take blood, then the DOH workers, the ME’s office workers, and the firefighters were all decontaminated at the scene.

The New York City Health Department said at last check the woman did not have symptoms and was being monitored because of her travel history.

She had been back in the country for 18 days.

Test results are expected back early Wednesday.

The health department released a statement saying, “Earlier today, an individual who came to the US 18 days ago from one of the West African countries with ongoing Ebola transmission died suddenly of an apparent heart attack. Before death, this individual showed no symptoms of Ebola. However due to travel history within the 21 day incubation period and an abundance of caution, an Ebola test will be performed on this individual’s remains. Test results are expected early tomorrow morning.”

The original ambulance crew and engine company who responded to this scene will now have to self-monitor. It’s not clear if they will officially join the city’s watch list.
