A reviewer from YoungAndTwenty explains the risks and dangers of Boo Tea and Tea Tox in general”
BooTea is a UK based company claiming to specialize in 100% natural health supplements. They also offer: Shakes, Multivits, Little Oats and a fitness plan.
Over my few years of blogging I’ve gotten the change to try & review 3 different detox teas including; the infamous BooTea, Tiny Tea: 14 Day Detox, and a store bought tea called: Traditional Medicinals Every Day Detox. Unfortunately the most promoted is the most dangerous as BooTea contains the highest amount of laxatives.
There is no need to spend an hour in the bathroom ( ) to rid your body of toxins and fat. In fact, simply drinking the proper amount of water will cleanse your body in the safest way.
In quick summary: laxatives ’empty’ you, which dehydrates your body to an unhealthy extent . It removes the water your body is made of and the nutrients you need to keep healthy.
Furthermore, since you’re flushing ( ) your body – you have no choice in what stays and what goes. And one thing that goes? Your birth control pill. There are stories upon stories of woman getting pregnant while drinking this tea. It’s stated on their FAQ Page; but not their packaging, and of course – never mentioned by the ‘celebs’ .
Potential Side Affects
Users Reported High & Low Blood Pressures
Unpredictable Bowel Movements [especially at first as it is a laxative]
An Disruption To Your Contraceptive Pills
Faint & Dizziness
Your Body Can Become Dependent on Laxatives
Negative reactions to other prescription medicines

Caution: Avoid drinking BooTea if pregnant or breast-feeding; or if you are taking prescription medicine. Avoid if you suffer from digestive problems. Avoid if you take oral contraceptive as Bootea will interfere with the contraceptive making it essentially useless.
If you’ve considered all other alternatives and still feel you MUST participate in a ‘Teatox ‘ program, remember to drink a lot of water, prepare to feel faint [meaning no driving] and beware of your contraception methods – or possible lack of.
“We will never promote or encourage our customers to go on a ‘diet’ as we believe that healthy eating is a lifestyle and not a short term fix.
Bootea products are not only a great way to kickstart a healthier you but can also be added into an already active lifestyle. ” – BooTea
BUT – you don’t have to take my word either! You can learn everything I did – and more – through such simple research through past reviews and social media mentions
Daytime Tea (14 Tea Bags Included):
NOTE: The Daytime Tea does NOT produce a laxative effect; however – The Daytime Tea does contain a small amount of caffeine.
Chinese Oolong tea, Maté leaves, Ginger root, Fennel seeds, Lemongrass, Dandelion leaf, Ginseng root, Gotu Kola leaves, Nettle leaves.
Bedtime Tea (7 Tea Bags Included):
NOTE: The Nighttime Tea DOES product a laxative effect [supposedly after 8-12 hours] and does not contain any caffeine.
Senna leaves [the reason for the laxative effect], Peppermint leaves, Fenugreek seeds, Liquorice root, Burdock root, Hawthorn leaves, Valerian root, Psyllium seeds.
Don’t get me wrong. I love a good ‘detox’ to help Kickstart a healthy lifestyle and get rid of the lingering beer belly [if only for a temporary time] So here are some alternatives: Drink Green Tea to speed up your metabolism. Drink ginger, lemon ( ), honey, and warm water to soothe your stomach, a tea with Dandelion Root to cleanse your body, and A LOT of water.
“Teatox is a fancy word we use to describe the way the body goes through a natural process of elimination, by removing unwanted ‘toxins’ & built up waste matter, from your body via the lungs, kidneys, bowels and skin.” – BooTea
BooTea includes an ingredient: Sienna Leaves. Senna is a natural plant which contains a chemical called “Sennoside”. When ingested – it irritates the lining of the bowel and creates a laxative effect. According to the American Herbal Products Association, the leaves are so harsh that the Association warns against long-term use. In fact; they suggest that products containing Senna leaves should come with a health warning.
