5 Year Old Boy Saves Mother's Life With 911 Call

Aydhun Byars, a five year old from Aurora, saved his mother’s life after he called 911 once he realized she was not responding normally.

What makes Aydhun’s heroic actions even more special is that he has arthropyosis and was born with clubbed feet and hands. He cannot grip or throw objects like most children.

His mother had gone into a diabetic shock.

ABC News 7 Denver reports:

Aydhun Byars is feeling pretty special, and he should after he helped bring medical personnel to his mother Monday.

His mother, Tarah Gunderlock, is a Type 1 diabetic and was incoherent when Aydhun called 911 for help at about 5 p.m. There were no other adults around but Aydhun remembered that his grandmother had taught him how to make the emergency call.

Aydhun told the 911 dispatcher that he didn’t know what was happening to his mother.

“She’s sleeping and she opens her eyes and she never answers me,” he told the dispatcher.

Aydhun didn’t know his address, so the 911 dispatcher traced the call and paramedics were on their way.

“I was a little scared but I was a lot calm,” he told us. “I just didn’t know what to do.”

Dialing a phone doesn’t come easy for Aydhun. He has arthropyosis and clubbed hands and feet, his mom said.

“He’s my little superhero and he makes me really, really happy,” Tarah told 7NEWS. “I told him ‘you used your superpower’ and he told me ‘my superpower is love.'”
